Producing content for The Broad’s social media accounts on Twitter, Flickr, and Facebook, while we established its organizational identity, was a great opportunity as a developer to build an art institution’s presence from the ground floor up.
In this social media strategy guide, I recommend methods for building a community of supporters Online and assets to be developed internally. One recommendation includes engaging prominent community members with relevant information regarding the building itself, its collection, and our goals as staff, all the while that making notes as to how to maintain a consistent voice.
Before posting to these accounts, the importance of developing a living document of this kind that lays out an single effective social media policy was to me paramount. It was that very same impulse which also drove me to capture the construction’s progress, itself proving to be an informative practice for shaping policy and scheduling content.
This strategy document functioned as a way for me to pass my own road map for other developers to draw on for stylistic choices, content sources, and some statistics.
